Pioner takes a bold step in redefining competitive shooters

The gaming world has many team-based shooter games, so it’s hard for new ones to be noticed. GFAGames’ new game, Pioner, wants to change that by combining different styles and ideas into one big game. Since its inception in 2021, a team of 70 people has been working on it, mixing elements from survival games, MMOs, and extraction shooters, all in a detailed post-apocalyptic setting.

Set on a 50-square-kilometer Soviet-era island called Tartarus, Pioner combines elements from classic sci-fi and survival stories, drawing inspiration from works like Roadside Picnic and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The wasteland is divided into sectors, with the harshest zones offering high-risk, high-reward gameplay. You can expect fierce battles, both against other humans and the island’s mutated creatures, while gathering valuable resources and artifacts.

Artifacts are rare energy bundles scattered throughout the island, offering immense power but potentially causing chaos in the wrong hands. These cosmic phenomena add a layer of mystery and danger, creating conflicts among Tartarus’s factions. You can choose to align with groups like the Source Conglomerate or the paramilitary Brigade, completing missions to earn rewards and improve relationships.

The game boasts a variety of modes, from PvE raids and world bosses to PvPvE extraction missions reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov. Survival mechanics will also play a key role, with players needing to manage rest, nourishment, and resources. Weapon customization is extensive, featuring anomaly-enhanced gear like rifles with melting bullets or landmines that explode with deadly precision.

This title will be available for PC via Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
